Retirement Funds

OWASA employees are members of the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees Retirement System. Employees receive 5% of salary to 457 Deferred Compensation Plan.

Vacation Days

Eight to I8 hours of vacation time is earned per month, depending on length of service.

Paid Time Off

Employees earn 96 hours of sick leave and 8 hours of personal leave per year. In addition, 12 paid holidays, bereavement leave, parental leave, and leave for civic responsibilities.

Medical Insurance

Full-time employees are offered medical insurance provided by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina. OWASA pays 100% for employee coverage and 50% of optional spouse/domestic partner and dependent children coverage.

Dental Insurance

OWASA pays for 100% of employee-only coverage and 40% of optional spouse/domestic partner/dependent coverage.

Vision Coverage

OWASA reimburses, employees and enrolled dependents, up to $550 per year for the cost of prescription glasses, contacts, and eye exams.

Long-Term Disability, Life & Dependent Life Insurance

OWASA provides Long Term Disability and Life Insurance at no cost to employees.

    OWASA offers reimbursement for activities that improve your physical wellbeing. 

  • Parental Leave

    Up to six weeks of paid parental leave to eligible employees after the birth, adoption, or upon commencement of foster care or guardianship of a child under the age of 18. To be eligible, employees must be full-time employee who has completed at least one year of continuous, uninterrupted service with OWASA.
